Improv Comic.
Doing an improv comic with my pal Ryan Kramer. Just wanted to post a teaser. Coming whenever we feel like ending it, I guess.

Been Busy.
Moved into a new house, starting three new cartoons (short trailer, gag film, and 7 minute epic), hoping to shoot some live action skits soon, and recording music in the space i set up in my closet. Not many doodles these days unless it's for a project. Sorry blogger.

Been a while...
...since I took some time to just doodle and not work on something productive. Sorry for lack of updates. Been getting a lot of comics done so I can work on some longer films in 2011.
In case you haven't been following, we've been updating TOONHOLE.com every Monday, Wednesday, Friday (with mainly comics with an occassional film). Here's one of mine from Wednesday:

Working Again.
Lunchtime draw session. I've had a lot less time to work on projects, and I'm JUST ABOUT finished with two of them. And I'm SUPER excited to start some more. YEAHHH! Anyway, lunchtime doodles (bad gags and all):
Pirate kegstand?
Everyone else was drawing all serious. I almost slipped into the hole
Pirates eating sushi?

Cannibal Holocaust.
Sketched these while watching. The movie was kinda disappointing because people hyped it up too much.
And everyone check out my pal AARON PAETZ! He's posting again

Don't rush stuff.
Evidence #1. Trying to rush through this project and I almost fell into the trap. Wasted a bunch of time finishing up a crappy first pass. Haha, thank god for all my Toonhole pals keeping me in check. Sometimes you loose touch when you're just looking at all this stuff by yourself. I think a large part of a great artist is the many artists behind him that give him feedback

Poop.
Almost finished with sound on the Lou the Frog cartoon, shooting a live action comedy short (with composited animation) next week, thumbing out a new really short short, hoping to get vocal records done for a longer animatic that I'm working on with cartoon all-star John Martinez that hopefully I'll get some help animating from the rest of the Toonhooligans, and gearing up to start penciling comics again. Gotta put pictures with this crap so here.
Sorry I haven't been posting more. I still love you.

Compositing Magic.
Trick #231231312:
When you got a close-up, if you gaussian blur your BG, it mimics a wide angle lens and gives you more depth! It's less about mimicing live action, and more about giving the audience a clear place to focus. It doesn't feel right to stare at the out of focus BG details, so it draws your audience eyes right where you want them to look: at your crappy animation.
oh i guess here's the before picture to compare.
Okay back to work.
